The third Monday of January is considered the most depressing day of the yearwhich has been established to be called “Blue Monday”so for this year as “Blue Monday” January 16, 2023 is set.
This idea was first published in a 2005 press release by British company Sky Travel, which claimed to have calculated the date using an equation.
In Cliff Arnall’s controversial formula, the weather, debt, the time since Christmas, the time without meeting any of the new year’s goals, everyone’s motivation levels coexist, but and the feeling of needing to take action.
This idea, of course, is considered pseudoscience and this particular formula is not accepted by mathematicians, while it is ridiculed by scientists as absurd.
The fact, however, is that several surveys in the past have shown that a large percentage of respondents put this particular day as their worst, second only to New Year’s.
