Over 1 million euros the loot of the spiral that robbed house owners all over Attica pretending to be landlords

It was dismantled by the Western Attica Security Sub-Directorate, a criminal organization, which is involved in at least 72 cases of theft using the employment method, with loot exceeding 1,000,000 euros.

According to the investigation, the object of their illegal activity was to commit thefts from houses in Attica using as a pretext their alleged desire to buy or rent real estate (houses, apartments, shops) or other objects, for which their owners had made relevant posting of advertisements on the Internet.

The first arrests took place when members of the organization were preparing to carry out another theft in the area of ​​Pefki.

In fact, during this time, an arrested member did not hesitate to move threateningly with the vehicle he was driving at the expense of a police officer of the Western Attica Security Sub-Directorate, as a result of which he was injured when he was forced to fall to the ground, causing a fracture in his hand.

The announcement of the Director of the Attica Security Directorate, Brigadier Dimitrios Davalos, in detail:

“Good morning ladies and gentlemen,

Today’s presentation concerns the dismantling by the Western Attica Security Sub-Directorate, of a multi-member criminal organization, which at least since February 2022 has been involved in at least 72 cases of theft using the employment method, with loot exceeding 1,000,000 euros.

According to the investigation, the object of their illegal activity was to commit thefts from houses in Attica using as a pretext their alleged desire to buy or rent real estate (houses, apartments, shops) or other objects, for which their owners had made relevant posting of advertisements on the Internet.

The dismantling of the criminal organization took place in the early hours of Friday (January 13, 2023), after an extensive police operation in various areas of Attica, where a total of 16 people were arrested, of which 15 were members of the criminal organization.

It is worth noting that the first arrests took place when members of the organization were preparing to carry out another theft in the area of ​​Pefki. In fact, during this time, an arrested member did not hesitate to move threateningly with the vehicle he was driving at the expense of a police officer of the Western Attica Security Sub-Directorate, as a result of which he was injured when he was forced to fall to the ground, causing a fracture in his hand.

On the occasion of this specific case, I would like to remind our fellow citizens to be especially wary of unknown persons who appear as prospective buyers or tenants or who attempt to enter their home under various other pretexts and tricks. In this case, we suggest that they take care of their personal belongings, in order to avoid the possibility of their removal by the method of employment. Of course, in any case they should not fail to inform the Police Authorities, even in case of attempted fraud.

At this point, I would like to congratulate all the police officers involved in this wide-ranging and difficult operation, for their zeal and professionalism throughout the investigations and the dismantling of the criminal organization.
