Announcement on the case of the death of the man who was found hanged on Monday night (16/1) inside his apartment in Muscat, issued by Greek police.

As reported in the case, a 47-year-old local accused of homicide was arrested.

In particular, after an episode that took place at the victim’s home due to financial disputes, the 47-year-old initially tried to strangle the 50-year-old using a cord.

Then, the victim climbed into a chair that was under a makeshift belt loop, which he had installed earlier before the accused arrived at his home, with the 47-year-old urging him to kill himself.

When he put his head in the noose, the 47-year-old removed the chair, resulting in his hanging.

The arrested woman was taken to the Criminal Prosecutor of Athens.

Arrested, in the afternoon hours of 1-16-2023, by police officers of the Piraeus Security Sub-Directorate, a 47-year-old local woman accused of homicide.

In particular, after an episode that took place at the victim’s home due to financial disputes, the 47-year-old initially tried to strangle the 50-year-old using a cord.

According to the 47-year-old woman’s statement, which she opened to the police when they arrived at the apartment, the unfortunate man owed her money (200,000 as she reported) which she could not repay.

“I went to his apartment on Androu Street to ask him for the money he owed me” were allegedly her first words to the Piraeus security police. Then they had a heated argument while the voices from the apartment were heard by neighbors who informed the police.

The 47-year-old, who does not appear to be related to the 50-year-old, tried to strangle him with a cord while during the fight the victim told her that he wanted to end his life because he was desperate.

The 47-year-old, as she confessed to the police, told him “suicides” and then he climbed into a chair and put a makeshift noose around his neck which he had tied to the monocle.

According to the 47-year-old’s testimony, she was the one who gave him the gratuitous shot by kicking the chair, resulting in his hanging.
