What really happened at Athens College – Security protocol implemented by the school

In the implementation of security protocol proceeded the College of Athens after spotting extracurriculars in the school yard. According to information, they were students of another school who had earlier quarreled with a student of the College.

Immediately after being found in the school yard, the College students remained in the classrooms by order of the management, while security officers took positions in key parts of the school. “The school was “sealed” in order to carry out the necessary checks from the moment the information was available and in order not to put the safety of our students at any risk”, the director of the Academic College, Kostas Synolakis, told skai.gr. In fact, as he added, even parents who had an appointment to go to school were not allowed to enter.

The police officers of the OPKE team who immediately arrived at the scene blocked the entrances and exits of the College and proceeded to search the premises externally and internally without, however, finding any suspect or any knife. Parents of students also arrived at the college hearing the news. The mobilization, however, was great given that the information had been given that the extracurriculars probably had sharp objects or a knife. It is noted that a security officer of the college notified the police saying that he saw a man holding a knife roaming the college. The employee is currently giving a statement.

Tthe College officially informed the students’ parents a little while ago:

Dear Parents,
We are informing you about an incident that disrupted school life today on campus
of Psychikos. We were informed about the presence of two extracurriculars on campus, which
they did not enter in a normal way through the gates of the School. We judged that the
incident possibly posed a risk to the safety of students
us.
Following this, we mobilized the entire security mechanism of the School and
we called the Police, who rushed to the School and took over duty for
Campus due diligence.
The security staff of our School moved instantly and the teachers
they remained with the students in their classes. With a message from the President
students were informed not to worry until the
necessary checks. All our students remained safe.
A little while ago, the Police checks were completed and order was restored
circulation of all on campus.
