Message from the Archbishop of America Hopeful for Christmas

by

“As the infant grows by assimilating the world around him, in the same way our growth in Christ is achieved through the liturgical experiences we taste in the services of the Church. However, the completion of this development always happens in our lives when we apply the virtues of patience, tolerance, humility, generosity, forgiveness, almsgiving, sympathy and love “, he points out, among other things, in his archbishop for Christmas the Archbishop of America Hopeful.

In detail, the Archdiocese circular:

“You made mistakes under the Cave, but the sky proclaimed the star, projecting the Savior, as far as the mouth. And magicians come to you, worshiping you in faith, so that you may have mercy on us ”(Troparion of the evening of the feast).

Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ,

As we gather to celebrate Christmas, one of the largest and most important religious holidays for all in America, we Orthodox Christians receive a special invitation to participate empirically in the birth of the Savior in Bethlehem, Judea. With the all-night services and especially participating in the Divine Liturgy, we are called to become the cave where “the child was born, secretly the way”. Because we all have a cave-like heart after our baptism, where God is pleased to dwell and flood with His presence. Each of us has the potential to become the place from which God’s will will be done.

As the infant develops by assimilating the world around him, in the same way our own development in Christ is achieved through the liturgical experiences we taste in the services of the Church. But the completion of this development always happens in our lives when we apply the virtues of patience, tolerance, humility, generosity, forgiveness, almsgiving, compassion and love. Then the presence of divine grace acts in our hearts and grows fully, as the apostle Paul declares: “Until we all become one in faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, in a perfect man, according to the age of the crew of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:13).

My dear Christians, the Lord Jesus Christ ascended and was born in a humble cave in Bethlehem. He wants us to turn our hearts into caves to be born there, with the sole condition of humiliating ourselves. Let us become like the shepherds and magicians who traveled from afar to meet him, because he came down from heaven to become man and to show us the way to a beautiful life on earth and the eternal life of the kingdom of heaven.

Let us chant: “Christ is Born! Glorified!” and let us welcome him to be born in our hearts and souls, because Emmanuel means “God with us”. By applying his teaching, we will taste this inner transformation in our lives and this will be the greatest Christmas present.

With the love of the baby born in Bethlehem and with many wishes “.
