After their apology to the Special Investigator of Thessaloniki, the seven arrested persons accused of falsifying the disability rates of applicants in order to receive higher pensions were released on parole and bail.
Among those involved in the case and called to give explanations before the Investigator are doctors associated with the Disability Certification Center, employees of the National Social Security Agency (EFKA) and among them the head of a central branch in Thessaloniki, as well as a lawyer.
In their apologies, they denied the most serious accusations against them, for forming and joining a criminal organization, bribery – bribery, fraud against the State, false testimony, etc.
With the consent of the Investigator and the Prosecutor, it was decided to lift their detention under the conditions, the ban on leaving the country and, as the case may be, the appearance at a police station in their area of residence and the financial guarantee of 5,000 and 10,000 euros.
In the same case file, which was formed after many months of investigation by the Internal Affairs Service of the Security Forces of the Hellenic Police, another 62 persons are included, including doctors, employees of EFKA and the Labor Inspection Body, as well as individuals. They are expected to be called in the next period to apologize in the context of the main interrogation.
