The bad weather created a serious problem on the coastal road in the Afandou area, as the intensity of the waves managed to dig out a large section of the road

From railings on balconies, trees, even parked bicycles, the powerful Beaufort winds that have been blowing in Rhodes since Thursday night are dragging.

The civil protection services of the Municipality and the Region, the Fire Service of Rhodes, ELAS and the Coast Guard are on hand to deal with the phenomena.

RODIAKI’s camera captured the situation, with fallen trees, branches, parked bicycles as well as a traffic light in the area of ​​Zephyros (coastal road) which was flattened by the bad weather.

It is worth noting, however, that cleaning crews and DEVAR in the city of Rhodes are currently in the middle of rain in a key flag of our city and are cleaning the wells with portable materials so as to limit the flooding phenomena to a minimum.

“We inform you that on the coastal road of Afantou Community in the Helidonia area, the asphalt subsoil has been dug up by the wave. We pay particular attention to the drivers of passing vehicles and to avoid passing through this point as much as possible.”

In a new post a few minutes ago, the president Giorgos Bakiris says: “At the moment, under adverse weather conditions, an operation by the crews of the Afantou Community to close the coastal road in the area of ​​Helidonia in order to ensure the safety of the citizens and prevent any chance of an accident from passing vehicles. At this moment, the safety of the citizens comes first”
