A 43-year-old convicted of threatening the life of his ex-partner by becoming her “shadow” is sent to prison by a decision of the Three-member Criminal Court of Thessaloniki.

The Court sentenced him to 23 months in prison, without parole, while it decided that the appeal will not have a suspensive effect on the execution of the sentence until the Court of Appeal.

He won’t let me leave the house. Every time he waits for me and attacks me…said the 43-year-old, ex-partner, who repeatedly addressed the authorities, filing lawsuits against him.

As she reported to the court, the defendant went so far as to scratch her car and leave a note on the windshield indicating the life plan she will follow and the reasons why he “allows” her to leave the house.

“Home, sister, walk the dogs,” the 43-year-old wrote in the note, as the plaintiff told the court.

Since the middle of last month I have been living under house arrest. He threatened to stab me, I fear and tremble my shadow» the complainant described what she has been experiencing since she decided to end the relationship with him. He expressed fears for her life and physical integrity.

In his apology, the 43-year-old accepted part of what his ex-partner complained about, attributing his actions to the love he has for her, while admitting he was wrong.

My love led me under her house. It was of the moment, because I learned that she is taking her life furtherhe said.

He had recently been sentenced in absentia to 30 months in prison for similar acts against the complainant.

Even then the sentence was suspended, with the accused not appearing at the trial. But it seems that he was not deterred by continuing the harassment. This fact was also addressed by the district attorney in her appeal and that is why, in addition to his conviction (for domestic threat and damage to foreign property), she recommended that the sentence not be suspended nor that the appeal be suspended, a proposal that was accepted by the court.

Addressing the accused and before he took the road to the prisons, the president of the court pointed out: “The most important thing is to respect the decisions of our fellow human beings».
