The 31-year-old Squadron Leader will be honored with the rank of Lieutenant Commander Efstathios Tsitlakidis and the 29-year-old Lieutenant Commander Marios – Michael Turoutsikas who lost their lives in the crash of the fatal F-4 Phantom last Monday, January 30, in the sea area west of Katakolo.
Following a proposal by the Chief of General Staff, General Constantinos Floros, the Council of Chiefs of General Staff (SGAE) in an extraordinary meeting yesterday evening decided to promote the 31-year-old Major Efstathios Tsitlakides and the 29-year-old Major General Marios-Michail Turoutsikas to the honorary rank of Lieutenant General.
The head of the General Defense Forces, General Konstantinos Floros, signed the relevant decision in the late afternoon, which was subsequently signed by the Minister of National Defense, Nikos Panagiotopoulos.
Today is expected the signature by the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, and the issuance of the Presidential Decree that will formally ratify the honorary promotion.
