The mobilizations will culminate the day after tomorrow Sunday with the arrival of the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Mr. Georgantas, who will be in Tyrnavos for the cutting of a pie at a party event.

The tractors took to the road today, Friday, with the aim of setting up a roadblock on the Larissa-Kozani National Road, while they proceeded to pre-gatherings from the morning in the squares of Ampelonas, Damasios and Delerion, as well as Tyrnavos, at noon.

Finally, after negotiations between the farmers and the police, they were not allowed to pass through Tyrnavos with their tractors on the national road, so they proceeded on foot to carry out their protest on the national road. The course of the tractors stopped shortly after the Tyrnavos Winery.

The farmers of the said areas have united their forces in order to protest once again about the “aggravating problems with the cost of production having gone up 3 and 5 times, while our products are given below the cost of production and many of which were left undisposed on the trees and vines”, as they state in their relevant announcement, adding that: “the unanimous decision of all of us is none other than that we go on the path of struggle because it is the only sure path that we have always won something about our survival.”

The mobilizations will culminate the day after tomorrow Sunday with the arrival of the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Mr. Georgantas, who will be in Tyrnavos for the cutting of a pie at a party event.

The farmers invite him to visit them in the blocks to “provide answers and solutions to the problems”.

The Agricultural Associations and Cooperatives of Tyrnavos together with the city agencies state that they have the following requests:

Replenishment of lost income on a range of products that have been sold below cost of production despite reaching consumption 5-10 times more expensive. This happens due to market losses, the war in Ukraine, damage from weather phenomena, the effects of profiteering on producers and consumers, etc.

To immediately give the money to the products that have been announced under the pressure of our struggles that there will be coverage of lost income but to give vertically to all varieties in Apples, Peaches/Nectarines-Chestnuts and to announce the amount for support in Pears, Apricots and Grapes that the ministry has pledged.

Cherries, which in all regions of the country have been sold below production costs this year, should be included in these products, as are Plums and Almonds.

The replenishment of all the above products should at least cover the production costs for all varieties so that we can continue cultivation in the new year.

All eligible farmers should be compensated for the consequences of the war in Ukraine with €72/hectare and not as was done selectively.

Reduce production costs that have skyrocketed!

Duty-free oil for agricultural use as shipowners have.

Ceiling on the price of rural electricity at 7 cents/Kwh. Abolish the Energy Exchange. Abolish the pollution fine.

Substantial subsidization of means and supplies and animal feed.

The compensations from ELGA should be given immediately. It is unacceptable that 7-9 months after the damages, the findings of the assessments have not even reached the hands of the producers and with an even longer delay in the payment of compensations.

Change the ELGA regulation to insure and indemnify 100% production and capital against all natural risks and diseases with adequate government funding.

In the earthquake-affected Damasi, compensation to all earthquake-affected at 100% of the damages in first and second residences, in warehouses, shops, from the state budget, without the conditions that make impossible any repair – reconstruction by the owners.
