Japan and Singapore passports are the most powerful; see list

by

For the fifth consecutive year, the Japanese passport was considered the most powerful in the world, but now tops the ranking in a tie with Singapore. The 2023 list was released this month by the specialized company Henley & Partners, which developed an index based on the number of destinations citizens of a given country can enter without the need for a visa.

The calculation is based on data from the International Air Transport Association. They show that Japanese can enter 193 nations, out of a total of 227, without the need to present any special authorization. Soon after, in second place, appears South Korea.

Then appear Germany, Spain, Finland, Italy, Luxembourg, Austria and Denmark, making Europeans and Asians dominate the top of the list. In last place is Afghanistan — citizens of that country can enter only 27 nations without the need for a visa.

What about Brazil? Well, the country appears in 21st place, right after Argentina. Brazilian passports guarantee access to 170 destinations without the need for an entry permit.
