Storm ‘Barbara’: Heavy vehicle traffic ban – Where chains are mandatory

The traffic of any type of heavy vehicle will not be allowed in both traffic streams of N.E.O. Athens-Lamia, along the entire length of Attica Road, in both traffic streams P.E.O. Elefsina-Thebes

ELAS issued an emergency announcement regarding the bad weather “Barbara”, in which it is stated that a traffic ban for trucks came into force on the national highway, Attiki Odos and in other parts of the road network of the basin.

Specifically, it states that for special security reasons and to avoid causing traffic problems in view of the occurrence of adverse weather phenomena, by Decision of the Attica Traffic Director from 6:00 p.m. today, February 4, cars of all categories must be equipped with anti-skid chains or other similar anti-slip means, during their circulation on the entire road network of the Province of Attica.

Further, from 18:00 today 02.04.2023 the traffic of any type of heavy vehicle will not be allowed maximum permissible weight of more than 3.5 tonnes, regardless of the use of anti-slip chains:

– And at two traffic streams of N.E.O. Athens-Lamia, in its section from the height of A/K Kalyftakis to the 57,300 m/th (limits of N. Attica).
-All along its length Attica Road, of the Western Regional Avenue Ymittos and the Regional Aigaleo, as well as the road network adjacent to them.
-In both traffic streams P.E.O. Elefsinas-Thebes from the 5,000 m/t (revoil gas station – formerly CYCLON) to the borders of the Prefecture of Attica with the Prefecture of Viotia (m/t 30,000).

Also, from 06.00 am tomorrow 05.02.2023 all vehicles will not be allowed to move, regardless of the use of anti-slip chains, on Parnithos Avenue from the 22nd street (cable car) in both (2) traffic streams.

The drivers of these vehicles are requested to avoid driving on the above road sections in order to avoid inconvenience and the creation of additional traffic problems and to follow the instructions of the traffic controllers.
