Mr. Bakoyiannis assured that the provision of assistance to our vulnerable fellow citizens intensifies during bad weather and reminded that the municipality has the four-digit number 1595, which citizens can call for all the services of the Municipality of Athens.

“A warm request, those of you who need something, because we don’t know what we will face in the next 48 hours, call 1595 and a person from the Municipality of Athens will be there,” said the Mayor of Athens and added: “The issue is the people, who they may be in danger. And that’s where our whole team puts the most weight. Let’s be next to these people.”

Mr. Bakoyiannis also asked the citizens to avoid unnecessary movements, while in cases where it is necessary to move, they must definitely use anti-slip chains for their safety.

“Those who see us now, my old friends from the Region of Central Greece, will laugh, but Athens also has its mountains. We have the Polygon, the Upper Cell. For us, not only the center is important, the neighborhoods are too. Let the roads be open, let there be cleanliness everywhere, let there be greenery everywhere, let there be electric lighting everywhere”, emphasized the Mayor of Athens.

Besides, the Deputy Mayor for Climate Change and Greening, Christos Tedomas, who was with Mr. Bakoyannis on the live television connection, referred to the readiness of all the municipality’s services – social, technical, green and cleaning – to deal with the bad weather, stressing that there will be available heated spaces where those who need it will be accommodated to warm themselves in the difficult days ahead.

On Friday, in the meantime, in a broad meeting at the City Hall, led by Kostas Bakoyannis, the final planning in the center and the neighborhoods of the city was finalized, so that the Municipality will be able to intervene immediately and effectively where required.

The Municipality of Athens, in addition to its own planning, is in close cooperation and in “open line” with all civil protection services involved: Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Region of Attica, Hellenic Police, Traffic and Fire Brigade.
