“Brake” on the traffic of all vehicles over 3.5 tons in both traffic streams of Egnatia Road, between the uneven junction of Vafeikon Xanthi, the uneven junction of Iasmos and the western uneven junction of Komotini, the Xanthi and Rodopi Police Departments temporarily put in a joint announcement, due to gale force winds blowing in the area and with the aim of smooth and safe vehicular traffic.
As indicated in the relevant announcement, traffic regulations will be in effect for as long as adverse weather conditions prevail in the area, while vehicle traffic will be conducted through the national network Xanthi- Porto Lagos- Komotini.
In the meantime, the General Regional Police Directorate of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace points out that in the Regional Unit of Xanthi, on the municipal road Ano Karyofytou-Livaditis-Dasiko Chorio, from the 2nd km to Dasiko Chorio, due to snowfall, the traffic of all vehicles is being carried out by using anti-skid chains.
Also, in the Rhodope Regional Unit, the traffic of all vehicles has been stopped, due to an increased volume of water, at the Irish Mosaikos crossing.
In this context, the General Regional Police Directorate of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace recommends that drivers follow the instructions of the traffic police and be informed about weather phenomena – traffic interruptions – use of anti-skid chains throughout the territory, as well as road safety advice, in ELAS website “hellenicpolice.gr”, in the special banner.
