The EMAK mission will depart in the next few hours with a C-130 from the SEDES military airport in Thessaloniki
The Greek mission assisting Search and Rescue operations in Turkey is being reinforced with additional forces to deal with the devastating consequences of the powerful 7.8 Richter earthquake that occurred in the early hours of February 6 in Southeast Turkey and Syria.
By order of the Prime Minister Kyriakou Mitsotakis and in direct consultation with the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Christos Stylianidis, a team of 15 firefighters from the 2nd EMAK, with a rescue dog and two vehicles, is leaving in the next few hours.
The team will also be accompanied by an Officer-Engineer of the Fire Brigade with expertise in supporting columns in the ruins of collapsed buildings, as well as three doctors and rescuers from the EMS.

At the same time, the Turkish media are today thanking Greece for its help, as broadcast from Adana by SKAI’s correspondent in Turkey, Manolis Kostidis.
The Greek search and rescue mission, in the Hatay province of Antioch, has rescued four people, a 15-year-old boy, a 50-year-old man and two 9- and 7-year-old girls.
