The motion and decision on penalties are awaited

To reject his request Petrou Filippidis for the recognition of mitigating factors, the prosecutor proposed a while ago. The Filippidis side had requested that the mitigating factors of prior cohabitation and good behavior after the act be recognized.
The proposal and the decision on the penalties that will be imposed on the actor are pending, following the conviction against him for attempted serial rape against two of the complainants. Filippides was found not guilty due to doubts on the charge of rape.
After the prosecutor’s proposal, Filippidis’ lawyer, Michalis Dimitrakopoulos, addressed the lay judges of the seat, saying to them:
“You will remember it in your conscience for the rest of your life, judge a man’s life. Have you realized why you find him guilty? Do not follow the prosecutor’s suggestion.” He went on to say: “You made history today by convicting a man of attempted rape. There has never been a precedent for a person to open the door and say go, my child.” “Mr. Filippides has a clean criminal record, he has a family and for 38 years he entered our homes and made us laugh. What else do you want to recognize his previous legal life?”
“If you recognize the mitigating circumstances, the sentence you will impose on him changes. Think about the trust shown in you by the Constitution and the legislature.”
The court has adjourned to rule on the recognition or non-mitigation.
