The Teachers’ Association of the Drama School of the National Theater resigned today (8/2) in full, after the deadline they had given to the government for the amendment of Presidential Decree 85/2022, which recognizes drama school graduates with secondary education qualifications, expired. (DE) equating their diplomas with high school diplomas.
This was announced over loudspeakers at the student occupation of the Ziller building of the National Theatre.
The official announcement with their reasoning is expected in the next few days.
It is recalled that the professors had stated in a press conference on January 24 that if they do not receive practical indications by today (8/2) – the deadline for the loss of the academic year – that the PD will be amended, they will submit their resignation.
“A school in occupation is not a pleasant thing. It is not normality. The consequences in the educational process are painful. However, in the hearts of our students there is such a great sense of injustice, disrespect and contempt on the part of the State, that we cannot help but sympathize with them, since we ourselves see this injustice” the Association of Teachers of the Drama School of the National Theater stated in a statement.
The names of the professors were announced in a post by the president of the disciplinary board of the Greek Actors Union (SEH), Paschalis Tsarouhas: Anestis Azas, Io Voulgarakis, Evita Zimali, Alexia Kaltsikis, Simos Kakalas, Maria Kehagioglou, Georgia Mavragani, Thanos Papakonstantinou, Aglaia Pappa . Tzardi, Konstantinos Bouboukis, Dio Kangelaris, Grigoris Ioannidis, Dionysis Kapsalis, Alexandros Voulgaris, Christos Dimas, Petros Sevastikoglou, Syllas Tzoumerkas, Thalia Istikopoulou, Yiannis Metzikof, Panagiota Konstantinakou, George Sambatakakis, Thomas Moschopoulos, Prodromos.
At the same time, the National Theater has been under occupation since February 5 by drama school students protesting Presidential Decree 85/2022 which degrades their studies.
