Teachers: Strike on February 15 against evaluation

by

The OLME is expected to take a similar attitude towards the issue of teacher evaluation

The Teachers’ Federation of Greece (IOE) “responds” to the implementation of the individual evaluation of teachers with strike action.

In particular, the ILO has declared a 24-hour strike for Wednesday, February 15, and calls on teachers to participate in the strike rallies, in Athens at 10:30 a.m. in the Propylaia, in Thessaloniki at 11:00 a.m. at the Statue of Venizelos, but also in other Greek cities.

“Educators are not afraid of ‘evaluation’, we have nothing to hide, we don’t react because we don’t want to be ‘exposed’ as the various parrots say, but because we want to protect the public school, the educational rights of the students and the working conditions of teachers”, the ILO emphasizes in the relevant announcement.

As noted, “teachers examine their work critically and self-critically every day, in the teachers’ associations they exchange thoughts and suggestions to make the complex pedagogical practice better. It is exactly this process that we are asking the state to essentially support. The evaluation criteria, promoted by the government, have nothing to do with this need.”

“The teachers will emerge victorious. We will become a shield for the defense of educational rights against the school of categorization”, concludes the announcement of the IOC.

It should be noted that the Federation of Secondary Education Officers (OLME) is expected to take a similar stance towards the issue of teacher evaluation.
