Thirty trained volunteers of the Hellenic Rescue Team from all over Greece, with a search and rescue dog and specialized equipment, are leaving Thessaloniki this evening to support search and rescue operations in the areas of Turkey affected by the devastating earthquake.
The mission of the Greek Rescue Team is expected to arrive tomorrow morning in Istanbul and from there to travel by air to Adana, accompanied by executives of the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD), with which the field will cooperate.
The equipment to be used by EMS volunteers includes hydraulic rescue kits, extrication tools, thermal cameras, hazardous gas detectors, generators, telecommunications equipment, stretchers, defibrillators and other specialized First Aid equipment. In addition, all members of the EOD will bring all the necessary means of personal protection.
The mission of the Greek Rescue Team is supported by the Consulate of Turkey in Thessaloniki and the Turkish Embassy in Athens, to whom we sincerely thank.
Many thanks, also, to Mrs. Christina Aspropotamiti for her undivided support and to all those who supported the realization of this mission!
