Unknown people managed to steal the bank’s internet service codes and remove 33,940 euros from a citizen’s bank accounts in Drama.
In particular, the General Regional Police Directorate of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, in the context of its preventive action, informs citizens about cases of citizen fraud in the Regional Unit of Drama, as well as the methodology used, in order to avoid similar incidents.
Specifically, the victim received a message (email), in which he appeared as a bank sender and asked him to confirm his bank details in order not to suspend his account.
To confirm the data, he had to use a suggested hyperlink (link) that contained the message and led to a website, where the victim entered the personal internet service codes of the bank, as well as the security code.
In this way, unknown perpetrators managed to plunder the above data and gain access to his bank accounts, deducting from them a total of 33,940 euros.
The preliminary investigation is carried out by the Drama Security Department.
On the occasion of the above incident, we urge citizens to be especially careful in case they receive a similar notification either via message (sms) or via email (email):
-Do not select the suggested links,
-Do not reply to messages and delete them,
-Do not register and send personal data and data of banking services or credit cards.
Inform friends and relatives so that they do not fall victim to scammers.
