Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) reported that 146 cases of Covid were identified in two cruise ships.
The cruises returned to sailing on November 1st in Brazil after an ordinance from the federal government. After this authorization, Anvisa approved a sanitary protocol for the resumption of activities.
One of the ships docked at the port of Santos (SP) for 132 people to disembark this Wednesday (29). This group includes 78 people with confirmed cases of the disease and 54 who have had contact with positive cases.
The disembarkation took place after the increase in the number of Covid cases — only 51 were observed among the crew.
The regulatory agency said the ship has about 4,000 people on board. Until this Thursday (30) new landings or shipments are not authorized and the ship must remain berthed until the end of the analysis of the epidemiological data.
The other ship docked at the port of Salvador. 68 cases of Covid-19 were confirmed, 56 among crew and 12 among passengers. At the moment, 3,836 travelers are on board and no one has been authorized to disembark.
“Anvisa will adopt the measures provided for in current regulations, which may include the need for quarantine or even suspension of activities,” the agency said in a statement.
According to the Anvisa protocol, only people who took the vaccine against Covid-19 can board in the country. Vaccines that are part of the PNI (National Immunization Program) and those recognized by the WHO (World Health Organization) are valid.
In addition to vaccination, the use of a mask is mandatory on board and in passenger terminals. Inside the vessels, the distance between groups of travelers must be at least 1.5 meters.
Every day, at least 10% of the people working on the vessel and 10% of the passengers have to be tested. Crew members must be tested more frequently, especially those involved in food services and those who have direct contact with passengers.
