“Today is dedicated to the little heroes who are fighting for life,” the Prime Minister emphasizes.
“In the last two years, the National Registry of Childhood Neoplasms has been put into operation (…) We had to do it. And we did it” points out Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

The Prime Minister’s post in detail

“Today is dedicated to the little heroes who fight for life. It is very hard when children face cancer, but they do it with optimism and tenacity. We must follow their example. Let’s stand by them with all our strength.

“In the last two years, the National Register of Childhood Neoplasms has been put into operation. An important tool in the hands of the medical community for monitoring children and adolescents with cancer. We had to do it. And we did it.”

Every year around the world approx 400,000 children are diagnosed with cancer. In Greece, annual new diagnoses are estimated at 300-350, with the most frequent forms being hematological malignancies and brain tumors, which are treated in seven pediatric oncology units, in Athens, Thessaloniki and Heraklion.
