The “Children’s University” for elementary and high school students of Attica is coming again after the pilot event in 2020. The submission of applications begins next Monday, February 20, at 09:00, and ends on Friday, February 24.

The action is implemented by the Region of Attica and concerns the conduct of courses in the form of lectures, seminars and workshops at Tertiary Education Institutions and Research Institutions in the Region. Students will have the opportunity to experience Science and Research up close, satisfy their curiosity and understand how the application of Science and Research leads to technology, practical solutions and innovation.

The action is completely free for participants, will take place from March to May 2023 and includes two parallel Study Programs:

– The Program-1 (Π1) addressed to students in grades 4th, 5th and 6th of elementary school (maximum number of students 200).

– Program-2 (Π2) addressed to high school students (maximum number of students 200).

All students of the 4th, 5th, 6th grades of primary school as well as the three high school grades of the Attica Region have the right to participate. Applications for participation will be submitted electronically on the special platform https://kidsuniversity.innovationattica.gr/aitisi, which will be available from Monday, February 20, 2023, at 09:00, until Friday, February 24, 2023, at 09:00: 00.

For the selection of students, the order of submission of the application on the electronic platform will be followed, until the 200 available places in each program are exhausted, and a list of 50 runners-up per program will be kept, similarly according to the order of submissions. The results of the selection will be posted on the website of the action on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.

Each Study Program is organized into Thematic Units of different academic subjects and includes workshops and lectures that will be delivered on Saturdays by scientific staff at the premises of the institutions participating in the action.

For the current period of operation of the “Children’s University”, the participating institutions are the National Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA), the National Observatory of Athens (EAA) and the Athens University of Economics and Business (OPA).
