With six ambulances hired by the Region of Attica, this morning, in the presence of the Police, 9 elderly people residing in the Korydallos nursing home were removed and safely transported to the Athens Nursing Home.

Following the relevant initiative and consultation of the regional governor G. Patoulisa total of 11 elderly people will be transferred to the Athens Nursing Home for whom there was no care for their removal by their relatives.

Two of them required medical treatment and were taken to hospitals.

The rest of the elderly who were accommodated in the Korydallou nursing home were removed from their relatives.

Mr. Patoulis went to the Athens Nursing Home, where he was informed by the president and general manager of the facility, S. Hamakiotis and K. Soldatos, respectively, about the clinical condition of the elderly who were transferred, which, as they pointed out, is quite good, while he also visited the premises which will be hosted.

At the same time, he had the opportunity to visit elderly people living in the nursing home.

After the removal of the elderly, echelons of the health directorate and the regional Health Directorate entered the premises of the Korydallos Nursing Home and carried out relevant checks. This was followed by the sealing of the Unit by the Police, based on the relevant decision of the Region.

The deputy governor of Piraeus S. Antonakou was presentwho was at the Korydallos Unit from early in the morning in order to supervise the smooth conduct of the procedure.

In his statements, Mr. Patoulis expressed his satisfaction with the orderly process of removing the elderly from the Korydallos unit.

Our only concept is to protect the health of our elderly fellow citizens in order for them to feel safe again and in this direction we will stand by their side for their immediate relief“, added the regional governor of Attica.
