Today, Saturday February 18, 2023, the 40-day memorial service in memory of the late King Constantine will be held in the Metropolis of Athens.

According to Christos Zampounis, who was hosted on the television air of “Our Breakfast” with Fai Skordas, the memorial service will be held based on almost the same protocol as the funeral and the ceremony will be private.

Only members of the Greek royal family and not heads of state will be in the Metropolis, according to Mr. Zampounis. The former’s wife, his sister Sofia, princesses Elena and Sofia, as well as those close relatives who could not due to covid, will attend.

At the same time, Mr. Zampounis clarified that there is no possibility that a member of the British royal family will attend.

The son of the former king, Pavlos and his wife Marie Sandal, arrived on Wednesday from New York in Athens, while their children will not attend the memorial service.

It is the family’s wish that the unveiling of the former king’s tomb take place on Sunday, as the family wished, in the presence of his wife Anna Maria, their children and their guests, who will attend the trisagio on the same day.

The total number of people who will attend the memorial service is estimated at 200, while after the ceremony, the family and guests will meet at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation for the usual coffee and condolences.

Since early in the morning, three hundred policemen have been patrolling the area, while since Friday parking has been prohibited in places close to the church. Also, Mitropoleos Street will be closed and there will be traffic regulations on the surrounding streets with guests moving by van.
