Bear with two newborns, approximately 20 days old, was found yesterday Monday afternoon in a farm of the Dispilio Community of the Municipality of Kastoria, during cleaning operations.

Immediately, the owner of the field notified her Directorate of Kastoria Forests which in turn activated the Immediate Intervention Team of the Regional Unit of Kastoria in order to manage the incident.

Because of the noise caused by the cleaning work in the adjacent field, sight was lost with the three animals and there was concern about the fate of the two newborn bears.

At the scene, and while there was a risk of death of the two newborns due to possible abandonment of their mother but also for the safety of passing citizens, men of the Greek Police and members of the environmental organizations “ARKTOUROS” and “KALLISTO” arrived in order to manage the incident.

Fortunately, during the night hours and after the use of a night vision camera, the animal was located with its two cubs on the same farm, in a place where no cleaning work had been done.
