For the shocking incident in which, according to complaints, a professor of the Department of Psychology at AUTH was held hostage last Friday by a group of students because he “cut them off”, spoke to the Thessaloniki radio station Status 107.7, the president of the Department, Mary Kosmidou, speaking of a very aggressive climate from this particular section. As the professor pointed out, the intimidating and harassing behavior of the specific individuals does not only concern the specific incident, but is increasingly increasing recently.

As he pointed out, “these phenomena do not concern only this particular professor, but are more general. At every opportunity, whenever anything happens anyway, they have behaved many times in a way that effectively hinders the teachers. They enter the classroom, make an announcement, and then start accusing.

“They have created a climate that is very unpleasant and very aggressive. It just happened that day that something even more extreme than usual happened.

“They want to participate in the teachers’ assembly but the law does not allow it because they are not members.

“We keep finding them in front of us, they come with an aggressive speech, they come in packs”.

Mrs. Kosmidou noted that the majority of the department’s students are excellent and hardworking children who “they have come to us with reports that we are being targeted, we are afraid to speak, we cannot speak. From this we understand that the behavior of this group is more general. All we want is for the aggressive behavior to stop.”

“It happens in many departments, we simply do not tolerate it and denounce it”.
