Former US President Barack Obama will attend the SNF Nostos conference in June, as announced by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).

At this year’s SNF Nostos Conference, Obama will discuss ways to strengthen democratic culture and the importance of supporting the next generation of leaders with SNF President Andreas Dracopoulos.

At the center of the organization is mental health. The SNF Nostos Conference is set to touch on a wide variety of topics, including the loneliness epidemic, the impact of violence on young people, the relationship between faith and mental health, and the future of mental health treatment development.

The Obama Foundation announcement

As the Obama Foundation states in its announcement yesterday: “In June 2023, the Obama Foundation Leaders program is organizing a conference in Athens, with the participation of President Barack Obama and the 105 Obama Leaders participating in the program. The organization of the conference marks the completion of the six-month journey of the program participants, with the aim of developing leadership skills, while offering them the opportunity to cultivate relationships with people from different countries and industries, and to graduate from the program as members of the international network of leaders of the Obama Foundation”.

“During his stay in Athens, President Barack Obama will participate in the SNF Nostos Conference of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF)”.

The SNF has proudly supported both the construction of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago, USA, and the implementation of the Obama Foundation Leaders program (more to be announced soon).

The SNF Nostos Conference is part of the SNF Nostos, organized by the SNF at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), in Athens, from June 20 to 23. The open-to-all event includes the SNF Dialogues, the SNF Nostos Run, and concerts with international artists.

This is the second time former President Obama has visited the SNFCC. In 2016, during his last international visit, as part of his administration, he delivered a moving, unforgettable speech from the stage of the “Stavros Niarchos” Hall.
