Two female students found themselves facing the Justice, as they were accused that together with a 35-year-old, friend of the first one, they trafficked narcotic substances inside stuffed dolls which they mailed in parcels or envelopes to Greece and abroad.

The first was acquitted due to doubtswhile the second was sentenced to 4 years in prison.

The third defendant who allegedly had a “leading” role in the case was sentenced to 8 years in prison and an additional fine of 30,000 euros, with the Court “showing” him the way to prison.

The trafficked narcotics, according to the indictment, involved 181 grams of cocaine, 200 grams of raw cannabis and amounts of methamphetamine.

The case was revealed last year in March, when two postal parcels with stuffed dolls were found at the “Macedonia” airport in Thessaloniki, inside which they were “hiding” quantities of cocaine and cannabis.

Investigations followed in branches of parcel shipping companies where additional parcels and envelopes containing narcotic substances were found and were to be sent to European countries (Denmark, Germany, etc.).

Before the Single-Member Court of Criminal Appeals of Thessaloniki, where the case was tried, the defendant who was punished with the sentence of 4 years in prison (she was released on a restrictive condition before the Court of Appeal) spoke of “naivety”, stressing that she made a mistake.

He stated that he met the co-accused through facebook and they developed a friendly relationship, while she admitted that in return she received a “pocket money” to cover her personal expenses.

The young woman who was acquitted and according to the indictment bought the dolls, pointed out that she did not know the exact contents of the packages.

The main defendant asked to be judged as a drug addict, but his request was rejected by the Court.
