The 108,229 candidates will come to the examination centers of 43 Regional Units of the country to be examined in two subjects – The successful candidates will be in their service not later than seven months after the examinations.
The countdown has begun for the holding, on March 4, of the large pan-Hellenic written competition, announced by the Supreme Personnel Selection Council (ASEP), for the recruitment of permanent staff in the Public and wider Public Sector, with the participation of a total of 108,229 candidates, University categories and Technological Education.
A characteristic innovation of this largest, in the 28-year course of the independent authority, competition – which does not include the number of positions to be filled, nor institutions requesting staff – is the creation of the so-called “reservoir” of successful candidates, for future announcements by the respective institutions. To begin with filling 5,124 vacancies for the remaining needs of 2022 as well as those of 2023, always of the PE and TE categories.
In the context of this period’s recruitment planning, of the total number of positions, 3,502 are for University Education (PE), 1,565 Technological Education (TE) and 57 positions Special Scientific Personnel (SSP).
According to the Minister of the Interior, Makis Voridis, the first immediate filling may concern 1000 additional positions, while the successful candidates will be in their service no later than seven months after the exams.

Voridis: “We are building the new government – good luck to everyone”
On the occasion of the diversity of this competition, the largest announced by the Independent Authority in its 28-year history, the Minister of the Interior, in his statements to APE-MBE, clarifies: “For the first time in the history of the institution, we are introducing a meritorious, integral and inviolable process through which will select the most suitable people to meet the needs of the Public Administration in terms of human resources. Our goal is to choose the right people for the right position.”
“The innovation of this specific competition” clarifies Mr. Voridis “lies, among other things, in the creation of the so-called pool of winners. Through this pool, the State will cover pending and future needs in personnel, significantly speeding up their recruitment process. As an example, I would like to mention that with the current system of standard scoring, it takes approximately two years to complete a recruitment. With the pan-Hellenic written competition, this period will shrink to seven months. Also, a second element of innovation is the use of specialized tools for verifying skills and abilities that were developed exclusively for the specific competition. Thus, for the first time, the selection of new civil servants will be based on a balanced and weighted evaluation of the elements that make up their working personality”.
Minister M. Voridis underlines that “on March 4, the candidates will be asked to prove that they have the knowledge and skills required in order to serve, with a high sense of responsibility, the new State that we are building” and closes by wishing “to all contestants, good luck.”
