32-year-old Dimitris Massalis was the driver of the fatal Intercity 62 train, who died instantly from the severe collision with the commercial train in Tempi.
The unfortunate train driver died instantly since the severity of the collision was great while the temperatures that developed immediately after the collision from the fire that broke out exceeded 1,300 degrees Celsius.
The 32-year-old leaves behind his parents, his brother and his partner Katerina. The young lady says goodbye with great pain “her partner, her husband, her train driver…” as she says in her post on social media.
“”You will always be the train driver of my heart. I love you so much. So loving, my husband, my partner, my best friend. Have a good trip my Dimitrakis…”she wrote on her Instagram profile.
