In the tragic train accident in Tempe mentioned, among others, the president of the House of Representatives, Annita Dimitriou, at the start of today’s plenary meeting of the Cypriot Parliament.
The president of the House of Representatives said:
”We begin today’s session with reference to the tragic train accident that occurred in Tempe last Tuesday night, resulting in the death and injury of dozens of people. The fierce head-on collision of the two trains took place under circumstances that are being investigated, however, whatever the causes, this cannot ease the unbearable pain and unspeakable grief of the bereaved families.
As the House of Representatives, we express our deepest sorrow for the unspeakable tragedy and sympathize with the Greek government and the people of Greece. At the same time, we are anxious and worried about the fate of the two Cypriots who are missing. On behalf of all the members of the House, I express our sincere condolences and our undivided support to the families and loved ones of the deceased victims.
I have personally contacted and expressed my sincere condolences to the President of the Hellenic Parliament, Mr. Konstantinos Tassoulas, the Greek Ambassador to Cyprus, Mr. Ioannis Papameletiou, as well as other officials in Greece.
