A new 24-hour train strike today, Friday, March 3, was announced by the Panhellenic Federation of Railways and Fixed Track Vehicles.

The Federation, as it points out in its announcement, based on its letters that have been sent to competent bodies (ministries, administrations, political parties) in all previous years, will draw up a memorandum with all the issues concerning the railway and will request an immediate meeting with the Ministry of Transport and the political parties (by next week at the latest).

At the meetings, the views of the trade union movement on railway and traffic safety will be presented again, demanding, as POS underlines, a clear timetable for their implementation in order to avoid any incident in the future.

Immediately after the meetings and taking into account the results of the discussions, the Board of Directors of the Federation will meet, in order to take the corresponding decisions, without excluding the escalation of the mobilizations, in case the results are not considered positive.

After the above has been completed, a press conference will follow, “in order to inform the entire Greek society, the entire Railway world about everything that the Federation has been sounding the alarm about for so many years for safety, but it has never been seriously listened to”.

The TRAINOSE Staff Union, the Panhellenic Union of TRAINOSE Staff and the Panhellenic Union of Traction Staff (unions whose staff work at Hellenic Train) are going on a 24-hour nationwide strike, as decided today by the Panhellenic Federation of Railways & Fixed Track Vehicles after the tragic accident in Tempe.
