With the participation of 108,229 candidates, the great pan-Hellenic ASEP written competition for public sector recruitment is being held today, Saturday, March 4.

The exams of the two courses will be held in examination centers of the 43 Regional Units of the country:

  • At 09:00 in the Skills and Work Efficiency Test with a maximum examination duration of 2 hours and 45 minutes and
  • at 14:30 in General Knowledge, with an exam duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes.

The examination of both subjects will be done by the method of multiple-choice questions and candidates should be at the examination centers one hour earlier.

In the competition, candidates are asked to answer general knowledge questions, as well as a skills and work efficiency test, which replaces work experience, which will now have significantly less weight in terms of points. The main examination method is multiple choice questions.

The weightages are 50% for each subject and those who pass the 55 marks basis for each subject/test and overall will be successful.

The Independent Authority has announced that negative marking with a factor of (-0.20) will apply to the incorrect answers of the candidates for the Knowledge Test course.

This means that 20% of the corresponding mark that each correct answer will receive will be deducted from the total score

The successful candidates are then entered into a scoreboard by category and branch/specialty forming the so-called “tank”.

In a second stage, their absorption will follow after an electronic application for participation, to the institutions, which will submit notices to fill positions of corresponding branches/specialties in public institutions – central administration, Decentralized Administrations, independent authorities, NPDD, NPID, under the supervision of the ministry and OTAs of first and second degree.

How will recruitment be done?

Recruitment by institution will be done on a priority basis based on exam scores, which will count for additional formal qualifications (postgraduate, foreign languages, etc.) and locality.

Through the competition, the immediate needs of the State will be met for the remaining positions of the 2022 recruitment program as well as part of the 2023 recruitment program, always in the PE and TE categories and concerning the initially announced number of 5,124 vacant positions, of which 3,502 concerned University Education (PE), 1,565 Technological Education (TE) and 57 Special Scientific Personnel (SEP) positions, while the pool of successful candidates will also fill positions that will be included in the 2024 recruitment planning, so the aforementioned number is expected to increase .

Those who do not take part in the competition or do not pass the basic will not have a chance for appointment until the next written competition which will be held in two years as provided by law.

Finally, with regard to Secondary Education (SE) candidates, who do not participate in the competition, they will continue to be recruited for the time being as they are today, i.e. through notices in order of priority.
