In the arrest of two men of Albanian origin, aged 45 and 75 years old, who are accused of violating the legislation regarding the immigration code, EL.AS proceeded in the area of ​​Attica.

According to ELAS, in the context of specialized investigations for the deconstruction of criminal networks, which are active internationally, the criminal activity of the two Albanians was certified, regarding the trafficking of travel documents to foreigners, in order to facilitate their illegal exit from Greece to countries in the central and northern Europe.

As emerged from the police investigation, the 45-year-old had assumed the role of distributing travel documents to foreigners in the center of Athens, while the 75-year-old guarded the apartment where the specific documents were kept. According to ELAS, from the investigations carried out, a mobile phone containing 639 photos of travel documents, as well as 539 original travel documents of third parties, was found.

In particular, the following were identified and confiscated: 402 identity cards and 7 Spanish passports, 23 identity cards and 6 French passports, 16 Italian, 7 Swiss, 5 German and 4 Dutch identity cards, 10 United Kingdom passports, 2 mobile phones and 940 euros.

It is noted that most of the documents that the two defendants had in their possession are registered as stolen – lost.

At the same time, an arrest warrant was pending against the 75-year-old from the Prosecutor of Appeals of Athens for the crime of rape, as well as convictions of the Mixed Jury Court of Athens with a prison sentence of 11 years, 5 months and 28 days, as well as a fine of 1,000 euros for violations of the law for weapons and explosives.

The arrest was carried out by men from the Department of Prosecution of Criminal Organizations and Transnational Affairs of the Attica Security Directorate.

The two arrested were taken to the competent prosecutor’s office.
