“Are you listening;” asks Ilianna Tzaerli – Giotaki and shocks by “saying goodbye” to those who were lost in the valley of Tempi
H train tragedy in the Tempe Valley has shocked the whole of Greece, which watches “frozen” the human dramas that are revealed daily through the suffering and unbearable pain of the relatives of the victims.
Ilianna Tzaerli-Giotaki, a student from Nea Ionia in Volos, tries to express all these feelings through a poem. “I wish if you see fit to publish it, because I believe it speaks for all of us. In this way, I want to express my condolences to the relatives of the victims who are in pain today“, he wrote in a footnote.
21-year-old Ilianna Tzaerli-Giotaki is a student of Oenology in Drama. He has traveled by train many times. After the tragic accident she’s not too sure she’ll do it again. The terror caused by the revelations about the conditions that took place have made her cautious, like others.
“We went out to have a coffee with my fellow students and we all felt a void. We were freezing. We could not, and still cannot, conceive what has been done. Children our age were lost. Some of my acquaintances had their friends on the train and were looking to find them. Still others, with the mere thought that a friend of theirs might have been traveling that fateful night on that particular train, began calling to see if he was all right. In this climate I wanted to express myself. I took out my cell phone and started typing. This is how the poem was composed».
The poem by Ilianna Tzaerli-Giotaki:
“Are you listening;
I roam the streets but there is a sadness,
a weight has covered my soul
I don’t know where this hanger will come from,
but I believe like crazy that they have put a curse on us
How to recover from one mourning?,
he finds us next like a hitman for hire.
I want to open my eyes and everything is a lie
I can’t take another day of this madness
Scenes taken from movies,
they say wrongly it is from two criminals.
Who forced so many souls down to Hades,
without considering their life the other
Manades to suffer if the child does not return,
children to wait if their parent will live
Brothers if they will see their brother again,
women and men if they will reward their partner
All Greece blackened,
from the smoke of the train fire
from the conflict she was cursed
Everyone is looking for blame to throw,
but we know that they will hide them under the carpet
Some want justice to find,
but the hearts of the mourning oasis shall not see.
There is no redemption because no one will return,
To tell his parents “the train journey fills us with dreams».
