Tension was caused earlier in Thessaloniki, when members of the KKE, led by the Member of Parliament A’ of Thessaloniki, Yiannis Delis, hung a protest banner on the White Tower for the accident in Tempi.

Strong police forces using chemicals pushed back the protesters and after a while the banner was taken down which read “Now the rage is overturned, this crime will not be forgotten”.

According to Mr. Deli, it was “a symbolic act of denouncing the prescribed crime that took place in Tempi”.

On the occasion of the “savage and unprovoked violence they received”, as the KKE complains, “the members and the deputy of the party” are calling for a gathering at noon at the White Tower and a march afterwards.

For the “unprovoked attack by the police on members and executives of the KKE in Thessaloniki”, the KKE speaks in a statement issued by the party’s press office.

“We denounce the unprovoked attack by the police on the members and executives of the KKE, who this morning were at the White Tower of Thessaloniki and proceeded to symbolically hang a banner with the slogan “Now let the anger be overturned, this crime will not be forgotten”. The result was the injury of two of them. Characteristic of the attitude of the police is that they trapped some of the participants in this symbolic mobilization inside the White Tower and did not let anyone leave the area, not even the Member of Parliament of Thessaloniki of the KKE, Yannis Delis.

As much as the ND government wants to impose a climate of silence and policing on the multifaceted crime events in Tempe, it will not succeed. The people and the youth, all of us, are outraged and outraged by this policy that sacrifices our lives on the altar of profits and the anti-people state. This is also expressed by the mass rallies of all these days throughout the country.

We continue. It is not the time of silence, it is the time of the voice and the struggle!”, says Perissos.
