Victim of violence from the students of the high school where he teaches, and at the age of only 14, he became a teacher in Volos.

The two schoolgirls who have troubled the school with their behavior on other occasions, this time went to extremes, when they pushed their teacher from the stairs, but luckily he managed to jump and thus was not injured.

It was the final straw for the school, which unanimously decided to removal ofof the two female students from the specific school environment.

The incident took place about a month ago. One of the two “sticky” students was late to enter the classroom for class after the break. She opened the door to walk in as the class had started and the professor informed her that she could sit and watch, but that she would be absent for being late. “You can’t come to class whenever you want and disrupt the flow,” he reportedly scolded her.

The student sat down at her desk in protest and a little later got up to leave again without asking for permission. At that time her friend and classmate from a different department appeared at the hall door and they demanded to sit together to study. when the professor refusedthey came out cursing their teacher with unspeakable expressions.

In a state of amok

As soon as the recess bell rang, the two girls, according to testimonies teachers as well as their classmates, were waiting for the professor, whom they decorated with vulgar expressions. They were shouting in the hallway between the rooms, swearing at him, his house and his family and one of them attacked him!

She shook her hands at fists and started hitting him in the chest and stomach. A teacher who at that time was leaving the classroom after the lesson, tried to remove the girl who was hitting her teacher, as a result of which the student also hit her.

When the professor turned his back to leave and not continue the incident, the student took a chance and went to push him down the stairs. He, who perceived the danger both from the movement of the 14-year-old and from the “watch out!” being shouted at, jumped off the ladder of his own accord and managed to keep himself upright without injury.

The two girls were called by the Teachers’ Association to account for her extreme violent behavior them, but they appeared in a state of amok. They continued to curse the teachers and it took a long time for them to calm down.

The last straw

According to authoritative sources, the two schoolgirls cause since last school year with their violent, indiscriminate behavior. They have been verbally attacked repeatedly against their classmates and teachers, they are late to their classrooms for lessons, while their names have been written since the beginning of the school year more than 20 times in the high school life book and they have been repeatedly punished of abortion.

For the “deviant” behavior of the two students, as it was characterized, the school took care of the inclusion in the classes where the two students are psychologists and social workersin order to help 14-year-olds and the smooth running of school classes.

The Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office she is aware of the case of the two students and it is expected that a new meeting will be held with the teachers of the school.

Unanimous request to change the school environment

The latest incident shocked the school community. Witnesses were students who were at recess and teachers who saw their colleague in danger from the extreme behavior of a student.

From school a pedagogical guidance consultant was called from Larissa and in a joint meeting with the teachers’ association and after discussions with the guardians of the two girls, the students themselves and the five-member student councils, it was unanimously decided to submit a proposal to change the school environment.

Changing the school environment is the last measure a school can take to shield its smooth operation. The request is already in the hands of the Directorate of Secondary Education of Magnesia, in order to decide in which schools the two girls will continue their studies.

Information indicates that the two 14-year-olds, who have as common denominator family problemswill be separated into different schools, in order not to create similar problems in their new school environment.

At the moment they continue to study at school, although the atmosphere is heavy. They are only excluded from the lesson with the victim teacher, until it is decided which schools they will go to, and they are engaged creatively in other ways during that particular lesson.

An unprecedented incident

The use of violence by students against teachers, let alone by girls, only 14 years old, is an unprecedented incident at the level of the Directorate of Secondary Education of Magnesia.

Incidents of violence in schools appear to be increasing dramatically, creating intense concern for teachers who are called upon to deal with difficult situations and indeed with limited “weapons” at their disposal.

But they refer to quarrels between classmates, mainly boys, in recent years and girls. Verbal and physical attack against a teacher, and even by girls of high school age, has not been recorded in the past.

Last October there was an uproar and there was even an intervention by the Panhellenic Union of Principals of School Units in the case of a deputy teacher at a vocational high school in the country who was forced to submit his resignation, with consequences for himself, because he was subjected to violence by students.

The professor in his letter stated the reasons for his resignation due to the severe violence he received from students, who wanted to impose on him up to and what grade he would give them.

At the time, the Panhellenic Union stressed that “the time has come imperative as a society and as educational bodies to react strongly and to limit inappropriate or delinquent behaviors within educational institutions. Impunity and unrestrained entitlement do not breed responsible citizens. The issues that arise by analyzing from a sociological and pedagogical point of view are many, as are the answers that can be given to them. We should, however, agree that the rules must exist and be applied because without them there is no organized society”.
