The upgrade of the investigations into the tragic accident in Tempi was initiated by the head of the Larissa Appeals Prosecutor’s Office, Stamatis Daskalopoulos, who has been appointed by the Supreme Court prosecutor as responsible for the supervision of all investigations.
After the apology and temporary detention of the station master whose fatal and criminal mistakes played a decisive role in the tragedy, Mr. Daskalopoulos in his letter, due to the seriousness of the case, requested that the Plenary Session of the Larisa Court of Appeal be convened immediately, in order to assign an appellant- investigation into the unspeakable tragedy.
The investigation assigned by the imminent decision of the Plenary of Appeals to a higher court, will move in every direction to seek criminal responsibilities, apart from those of the station master, to officials of the OSE, a traffic inspector and others, who will be checked on how an inexperienced station master with almost zero experience found himself at the nerve-racking post of Larissa, and even during the three days of Clean Monday, when the traffic of trains was increased.
In particular, according to information, it is expected that everything will be checked, the conversations with the other station masters who have seen the light of day as well as whether there were responsibilities from the train drivers who are unfortunately no longer alive and are among the victims of the tragic accident .

Separate research for projects.

At the same time and on the occasion of the letter of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, a separate investigation was ordered into the delay in the implementation of the projects for the modernization of the railway network with control of the contracts, why they did not proceed, how much money was spent, why schedules were not respected and who is responsible for everything that’s all. And this investigation was assigned to the head of the Prosecutor’s Office of Appeals, Stamatis Daskalopoulos.
In his letter, the prime minister requested an upgrade of the investigation in Larissa to the highest possible investigative level and in-depth investigations into the delays in the projects by the judiciary even before the investigation of the special committee of experts is completed, the conclusion of which, as he says, will be forwarded to the judiciary.
