Two men, a 63-year-old and a 54-year-old, were arrested by police officers of the Environmental Protection Department of the Thessaloniki Security Directorate, for burning seats and plastic parts, which came from disassembling car parts.
In particular, the 63-year-old was found on his own in the forecourt of a car spare parts business in the wider area of Gephyra, Thessaloniki, burning plastics and car seats in a makeshift burning area, at the behest of the 54-year-old owner of the business, resulting in the creation of a suffocating atmosphere and a strong stench.
In the area there were also other wastes from the illegal disassembly of car parts, as the company lacks a relevant operating license and a decision approving environmental conditions or standard environmental commitments from the competent authorities.
A case file was filed against the arrested, among other things, for arson with intent and violation of the Laws for the protection of the environment. Those arrested will be taken to the competent Prosecutor.
