In reality, losing weight is a complex process, requiring a combination of healthy eating habits, regular physical activity, a change in mindset, and a lot of patience and persistence.

There are some habits that are sabotaging your progress and weight loss!

You don’t sleep well

It is the number one factor that seems to significantly affect weight loss, as paradoxical as it may sound. In the bigger picture, short hours of sleep affect the hormones that regulate hunger, significantly reducing energy levels, increasing stress levels, and making you hungry and craving mostly sugar the next morning.

Aim for at least 7-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep every night. If you have trouble falling asleep, limit screens at least 45 minutes before going to bed, try to eat your last meal before 6 p.m. and make sure to include exercise in your daily routine.

You skip breakfast

Skipping breakfast can be detrimental to weight loss as it can lead to overeating later in the day, cause blood sugar levels to drop, metabolism to slow, and muscle loss. Metabolism is the process by which your body burns calories and converts food into energy.

Eating a healthy breakfast can help jumpstart your metabolism and keep it going throughout the day. Skipping breakfast, on the other hand, can cause the metabolism to slow down, making it harder for the body to burn calories.

You snack between meals

Snacking between meals is the ticket to weight gain. Every time you eat, insulin levels rise, which signals the body to store fat. In addition, by making more “snacks” you will certainly escape significantly in the calories you consume, reducing the rate of weight loss.

If you snack unconsciously, try to make your meals rich in protein (meat, chicken, fish, egg, milk, yogurt, cheese) but also in fiber (fruits, vegetables, seeds), while it will help you to keep a diary diet, recording exactly what you eat during the day.

You skip meals especially when you are busy

Are you familiar with feeling very hungry when you’re bored and possibly not even thinking about food when you’re too busy? Then you need to start recognizing it, because both scenarios are sabotaging your weight loss. Skipping meals can be particularly harmful as it puts you at risk of overeating later.

Don’t let your body starve. Make sure you eat your meals on time, no matter how busy you are. And, never let boredom be the reason for extra snacking or an extra calorie meal during the day.

You are not in control of your portion

Without portion control, it makes sense to consume more calories than you should. Portion control is a key factor if you want to lose weight effectively. Therefore, try to control the portions you consume.

A frequent mistake is to put a very small portion of food on your plate in the first place, which does not fill you up, as a result of which you continue to fill the plate again and again, escaping calorically and quantitatively. Something you would have avoided if you had put a normal portion of food on your plate to begin with.

There are certainly many reasons that sabotage weight loss, but in the long run, you will find your own “golden key” that pays off in weight loss.

There are no magic potions, you just need persistence, patience and proper guidance!
