The last goodbye to 34-year-old Vaios Vlachos, who lost his life in the fatal train accident, was said at noon on Thursday by relatives and friends, as well as by many hundreds of Karditsio residents who rushed to honor his memory.
Among them is the president of SYRIZA P.S. Alexis Tsipras, who arrived shortly after 12:30 at the Municipal Art Gallery of Karditsa, where the civil funeral of the 34-year-old is being held.
The pedestrian street between the Art Gallery and the Archaeological Museum, as well as the surrounding streets, are full of people holding flowers in their hands.
Unspeakable sadness and pain, with the parents and brothers of Vaios reminding us of heroes of an ancient tragedy, whose faces reflect the heartbreak of all the families who were so unfairly deprived of their members.
As at the funeral of Tasos Koutsopoulos that took place last Tuesday, the presence of young children is also shocking today.
With the decisions of the mayors, all schools finished classes between 11 and 11:30.
Also, the city’s shops were closed earlier following a decision of the Karditsa Trade Association.
