The Larissa Appellate Assembly will meet at 1:30 p.min order to decide on upgrading the main investigation into the deadly Tempe train collision and assigning the investigation to an Appellate Special Investigator.

The Appellate Body, which is made up of approximately 20 judicial officials, after approving by voting the reasons for which the Head of the Appellate Prosecutor’s Office Stamatis Daskalopoulos was requested to upgrade the investigation, will proceed with its decision to appoint an Appellant as a Special Investigator and the his deputy who are expected to assume their duties immediately.

After the appointment of the two senior judicial officers the case file handled by investigator Larissa will be forwarded to the Court of Appealso that the two special investigators can continue the investigation.

Meanwhile, three new defendants were charged yesterday and will plead guilty to the same offenses as the 59-year-old station master, namely the felony of disturbing the safety of transportation and the misdemeanors of negligent homicide and serial negligent bodily harm.

The three new defendants are expected to answer to the Prosecutors who will be appointed today to handle the complex investigation.
