Last year, checks were carried out on 2,381 antenna stations throughout Greece and 4 cases of possible limit violations were found, in locations outside the urban fabric, i.e. in “antenna parks”
The consolidated data published by the Hellenic Atomic Energy Commission (EEAE) about the on-site measurements of the emitted electromagnetic radiation from antenna stations, carried out in 2022, as well as the report of the operation of the National Observatory of Electromagnetic Fields for the same year.
In order to control compliance with the limits of safe exposure of the public to electromagnetics radiationthe EEAE carries out on-site measurements either ex officio and on a sample basis annually at a rate of at least 20% of the antennas licensed by the National Telecommunications and Posts Commission (EETT), operating within a city plan, or at the request of any legal or natural person.
In total, checks and on-site measurements were carried out at 2,381 stations last year antennas throughout Greece and four cases of possible exceeding of the limits of safe exposure of the public to electromagnetic fields were found, in locations outside the urban fabric, i.e. in areas that practically constitute “antenna parks”.
The detailed results of the measurements are presented on the EEAE website at http://eeae.gr/epitopies-metrisis-electromagnetic-fields and on the new application for mobile phones and devices ‘e-antennas’ https://ekeraies.gr/ (available on iOS and Android). In total one can see the results of more than 21,000 on-site measurements of electromagnetic radiation that have been made in the environment of approximately 11,817 antenna stations from 2008 to the present.
The report on the operation of the National Observatory of Electromagnetic Fields (NEOP) for the year 2022 includes detailed aggregated measurement results of the 500 fixed measuring stations of the EPOP, as well as the 10 mobile stations operating in the country’s municipalities. As can be seen from the aggregated results, the values recorded by all measuring stations are well below the established safe exposure limits of the public.
EPIP is a pan-Hellenic telemetric network of stations for continuous measurement of high-frequency electromagnetic radiation, interconnected online with the web portal paratiritirioemf.eeae.gr, where the results of the measurements are displayed.
