The day after tomorrow, Wednesday, March 15, the open public consultation organized by the Municipality of Larissa on the subject of the railway in Larissa will take place at 7 p.m. The consultation is part of the decision of the mayor Ap. Kalogiannis and the municipal authority to bring back to the forefront of the debate, after the tragic train accident in Tempi, the serious problems caused by the passage of railway lines through the urban fabric, claiming the routing of actions and solutions.

In this context, after the letter of Mr. Kalogiannis to the Prime Minister Mr. K. Mitsotakis, the consultation is coming, while the issue will be discussed at one of the upcoming meetings of the Municipal Council, with the aim of putting pressure on the government, so that the government and the railway companies to deal seriously and prioritize the issues concerning the city of Larissa.

The main objective of the municipal authority is to make a decision and launch procedures so that there is finally a special study to prepare a study of the feasibility and viability of the alternative solutions required (undergrounding, open trench, city bypass, underpasses, etc.) to limit the risks engendered by the passage of the railway through the city.

In the letter to the prime minister, the mayor of Larissa after mentioning that the city has paid a blood tax to the railway, while underlining that all the municipal authorities of the city and the current one have tried to highlight the issues by putting pressure on the administrations of the OSE from time to time, but to no avail.

It is also noted that in the letter twice in the last five years, the first in March 2019 under the previous government, and the second one a year ago, it was agreed in contacts with senior political and service officials of the OSE, the preparation of such a study, without so far having proceed with something specific.
