The case of the tragic is taking the path of the Parliament Tempe accident with the government and the opposition seeking parliamentary dialogue, but each with a different starting point and with different “protagonist” persons, during the meetings that will attempt to search for the causes of the accident and the history of the political choices that contributed to it.

The first official parliamentary approach and discussion of the accident that claimed the lives of 57 people will take place tomorrow Wednesday at the Production and Trade Committee, which is expected to be informed by the government’s initiative by the new Minister of Transport George Gerapetritis.

In fact, the president of the Parliament characterized this information as a “first involvement” of the Parliament in the case, with the “key” persons in the case, such as the resigned Minister of Transport Kostas Karamanlis, or the former Minister of SYRIZA Christos Spirtzis, not being taken for granted that they will attend.

In the event that the president of the Parliament also commented and when asked about it, he reminded that the two men are not members of the Committee, however, they can participate by replacing their colleagues.

And the government nevertheless expects and indirectly invited through the government representative Costas Karamanlis to give his own explanations to the Parliament about the tragedy in Tempi, with Yiannis Oikonomou stating that “Mr. Karamanlis is an ND MP. I think that in the Committee Production and Trade of the Parliament, that there will be an extensive discussion and he himself must come and submit his own opinion”.

Referring to the assumption of political responsibility by the former Minister of Transport and his resignation, Mr. Oikonomou remarked that “the assumption of political responsibility does not mean that the previous and the following are to blame and not him. Obviously he has assumed his responsibilities and I think that Mr. Karamanlis, in the next period, will also choose to position himself”.

Even if the resigned Minister does not choose to appear before his colleagues in the Production and Trade committee tomorrow, as Kostas Tasoulas said, the meeting in question “will not be the last”.

SYRIZA also requested the immediate convening of the Institutions and Transparency Committee to investigate the causes that led to the tragedy in Tempe, seeking a wider parliamentary debate on the accident that shocked the whole of Greece.

With this request, it is requested that the former Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Kostas Karamanlis, the Deputy Ministers Yiannis Karagiannis and Michalis Papadopoulos, the G.G. of the Ministry of Yiannis Xifaras, the administrations of the OSE and trade unionists.

Without however making any reference to the 2015-2019 SYRIZA-ANEL bi-government period, the request goes back to 2007 and requests the summons of Kostis Hatzidakis who – as stated – in 2007 as Minister of Infrastructure and Transport signed on behalf of the public the contract 10005/2007 for the ETCS control system.

Despite Koumoundourou’s attempt to point all the responsibilities at the governments of the ND – as a Piraeus factor comments – she is in vain.

Political acrobatics and selective amnesia and sensitivity do not fit into such shocking events – said the same source – recalling that the government was and is the one that has initiated procedures to inform Parliament, all parties and political leaders by the Minister of State with authority Transport and Infrastructure Giorgos Gerapetritis

“It would, after all, be a step in the direction that the times require and society demands, the creative confrontation and finally the synthesis of opinions, proposals and ideas and not the sterile partisan confrontation. Claims that everyone else is to blame, distortions, lies, offsets do not fit in. Now is the time of truth and it’s the time of truth for everyone,” commented the government representative during the briefing for political editors.
