The sector’s participation in strike which was declared by General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE) for Thursday, March 16, 2023, the administration of the Panhellenic Federation of Food and Tourism Workers (POEET) unanimously decided.

“The safety of workers and citizens is the first concern of the State and it should be guaranteed, something that was shown in the Tempe accident in a tragic way that it is not. We ask for accountability and to ensure that it never happens again. At the same time, the attack that is unfairly launched against conscientious workers and their representatives, to cover up decades of ill health, is truly infuriating. The labor deregulation in our country in recent years has unfortunately had these disastrous results” POEET points out in its announcement.

As it states, the claims are summarized as follows:

“- Attribution of responsibility for the tragedy in Tempe.

– Immediately ensure the safety of workers and passengers in MMMs.

– Restoration of sectoral labor contracts.

– Abolition of rotating work, which causes job vacancies.

– Restoring the unemployment fund for seasonal workers in the sector to the previous levels.

– Performance of the lump sum in 20 years.

– Incorporation of specialties into the UAE, as it was until 2012″.
