The trails that are used or can be used for mountain biking are to be recorded, in the next period of time, in all the regional units of Central Macedonia, in order to stand out more and create a new tourist product for the region.
In fact, in the context of the relevant study, the paths will be maintained and vegetation and debris removed, while in the next stage a complete digital archive will be created, maps with the necessary information, photographic archive and audiovisual material with separate videos for each of the seven regional units.
The project is part of the Tourist Promotion Program of the Region of Central Macedonia and according to the announcement of the tender process posted today on the website of the Region, the research, recording and printed and digital display of existing or potential cycling trails that have special characteristics and are suitable and attractive for cycling. The recording is considered to attract the interest of those involved in cycling, but also of visitors who wish to explore an area with their bike.
More specifically, it is planned to record at least 70 km of cycling trails throughout the Region with all the necessary technical information, such as the beginning and end of the trail, rest areas, parking spaces, etc. The categorization of the degree of difficulty will follow and of the paths, while the naming and the creation of the signal of the network of bicycle paths of the Region of Central Macedonia that are of tourist interest and their marking with the appropriate coding, the indication of the direction and the degree of difficulty are planned.
At the same time, proposals will be made to the competent services for the characterization of the paths, the management, the maintenance, the cleaning and the marking of the registered paths that are of tourist interest, the conclusion of collaborations with institutions and local companies for the sustainable development of mountain biking tourism. the possible interconnection of the cycling paths that will result from the research with European networks of cycling paths and the development of services, capable of contributing to the creation of a tourist product (information points, promotion points, promotion and promotion actions).
The amount of the project amounts to 74,000 euros, while the financing body of the relevant contract is the Regular Budget of the Region of Central Macedonia. The duration of the contract is set from the date of signing and for six months. The results of the research and study will be presented at a special event of the interior to competent bodies (forest departments, etc.) and local professionals related to the subject.
