Auction sells all of Maradona’s goods, except BMW and the home of the ace’s parents

With the exception of a BMW automobile and one of his homes, all of Diego Maradona’s assets offered for auction were sold on December 31st.

The sales resulted from a court order, with the consent of the five children of the Argentine star, for the payment of expenses and tax debts. There are other processes for recognizing the paternity of Maradona, who died in November 2020 due to respiratory failure.

“At first, the only thing left to sell is one of their BMWs, plus Villa Devoto’s house. [bairro de classe alta em Buenos Aires]. In the rest, we had offers and all that remains is to present them to the judge. We will do this in the next few days,” said the organizer of the auction, Adrián Mercado.

About 90 Maradona properties went up for sale on December 19th in an international online auction, but as several lots were vacant, it was decided to extend the deadline for submitting bidders to December 31st.

It is not clear how much was collected at the auction. Of the two BMW vehicles, one of them, manufactured in 2016, was valued at US$ 165 thousand (R$ 935 thousand in current values) and was sold. The other received no offers.

The house in Villa Devoto had been a gift from Maradona to his parents, Diego and Tota, who were also dead. Valued at US$900,000 (R$5.1 million), the residence has 700 square meters covered and 500 square meters of parkland.

Sales data will be passed on to judge Luciana Tedesco, who ordered the auction, to be ratified.
