It’s not just a wish. It is much more. It is light in the dark. It is power. It is hope. It’s life.
In an atmosphere of deep emotion and with the participation of many families and wish children, volunteers, donors, doctors and friends of Make-A-Wish (Make-A-Wish Greece), the organization’s established annual Thank You Night was held.
An evening of reckoning and expression of deep gratitude.
In the presence of the members of the Board of Directors and representatives of Make-A-Wish International, the evening was opened by mothers and fathers with their children, singing the song “My lucky star”. With the valuable help of Georgia Avaskantiras, Giorgos Chraniotis and Doretta Papadimitriou, the parents symbolically dedicated the verses to the children, whether they were on stage or… high in the sky! Afterwards, we watched Amanda, Eleftheria, Maria, Olga, Raphaela, Sofi, Tonia, Dimitris and Yannis compose the “journey of wish” together, culminating in Lymberis’ letter addressed to his fairy after fulfilling his wish.
Thanks were given to the companies and individuals who have supported the organization’s work in some special way, but little Lilian and her family stole the show. Our little songwriter wrote a song especially dedicated to her fairies, and daddy took over the composition! Arriving shortly before the thanksgiving of the volunteers, Matina Kyriakou confided to us that even today, years later and while Alexandros is no longer with us, the room prepared for him by Make-A-Wish Greece is still intact as on the day of his wish…
Finally, Nefeli, child of a wish, accompanied the General Director of the organization at the end of the evening by thanking the sponsors of the event and Ilias Kampakakis, with his voluntary participation, provided a happy and rhythmic finale! On the way out the guests were entertained by VOX the Acapella Group who sang with their mouths and delighted children and adults alike!
The “X…star” of the organization was also honored with their presence by people working in the health sector. Doctors, nurses, social workers, psychologists, hospital support staff, workers and volunteers from other clubs were all there and they were awarded the biggest medal! That of “#WishMaker – Committed to health caring”. And of course, the event did not lack the bright names “#WishMakers who are involved in the work of the organization because they have either fulfilled the wish of a child who admires them, or have acted as donors, or have volunteered to help with a wish or our action!
The surprise of the evening was the large donation announced on stage by the great sponsor of the organization, Dimitra Katsafadou, for the adoption of 10 children of wishes.
It’s not just a wish. It is much more. It is light in the dark. It is power. It is hope. It’s life.
A few words about Make-A-Wish (Make-A-Wish Greece)
Make-A-Wish (Make-A-Wish Greece) fulfills wishes of children aged 3-18 who suffer from serious illnesses.
The fulfillment of a wish is not just a wish, it is much more.
It is the motivation to keep fighting for every child who is sick. A wish is an integral part of the healing journey, which is why the organization is committed to granting the wish of every child who meets the criteria.
Research shows that children who are granted a wish can regain the physical and emotional strength they need to face a very serious illness.
Make-A-Wish (Make-A-Wish Greece) has been operating since 1996 in our country and is a member of the Make-A-Wish Global Organization.
Since its inception it has granted more than 3,100 wishes, 298 of which were granted in 2022.
